Thai American Association of South Florida – Asian Cultural Festival

On March 7 and March 8, 2020, Florida Asian Services attended the Asian Culture Festival organized by Thai American Association of South Florida and Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board. The event was held from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead, FL.

FAS set up a booth for Census outreach. FAS prepared Census materials in English, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Burmese and Hindu, Census sample form, and Census sample initiation letter. FAS passed out Census goodies and flyers to remind participants on filling out Census when the Census initiation letter arrived the household in the coming week; FAS also asked participants to sign Census Pledge Card to pledge to be counted.
In addition, FAS reached out to vendors, ethnic performance groups, consulate generals from Asian countries at the event to build partnership for Census outreach.

During the intermission of performance shows, FAS went on the stage to talk about the importance of Census 2020 and the confidential of Census data. FAS reminded parents to count children in their household as children, especially at their 0-5-year-old, were the most undercount population on the previous Census. FAS encourage the public to fill out Census questionnaire as soon as the invitation letter arrived at their household on March 12.
